Congratulations to Rebecca Morgan – the first winner in our iPad giveaway! We have 3 more iPad minis to give away in May. Don’t wait, sign up and take your research with you on holiday.

Rebecca is in the final year of a Master’s degree in Earth Sciences at the University of Oxford, St Edmund Hall. Studying marine geophysics under the supervision of Prof. Tony Watts, her research project focuses on the Louisville Ridge, a chain of seamounts in the South Pacific. Using a combination of bathymetry, gravity, seismic and magnetic data, Rebecca is working to reconstruct the history of these seamounts and the associated hotspot. When she is not in the office, Rebecca enjoys travelling and fieldwork, playing badminton and squash, and when time permits a bit of reading.

What are your plans after your Master’s?

I have an offer to stay in Oxford for a DPhil, working on volcanic rifted margins, with a focus on Namibia.

What do you like and dislike about the research environment?

I love the challenge of research; it doesn’t feel like coming into work every day, it’s an opportunity to explore and learn about fascinating scientific problems. Sometimes it can be frustrating, but it’s worth it when you finally make a breakthrough!

What are your favourite features of colwiz?

My favourite features of colwiz are the search function within colwiz Desktop, and the reliable syncing of annotated PDFs across devices and libraries. The ease of migration from previously used software made the transfer very smooth.

Did you use any other reference management software before colwiz?

Mendeley and Papers 3 for Mac.

How does colwiz compare to previous software you have used?

colwiz incorporates all of the best features of the other services I have used, some of which have been at a significant cost. The new user interface is intuitive and easy to use on all platforms. Flexibility between operating systems is also very helpful when moving between machines.
